TONED! The basics, exercise of the day #4
In today's video series Im going to show you a few of my favourite "Toning" exercises!
They refer to exercises that give you a lean and toned body without the development of muscle!
Now, those who say lifting weights don't make you bulky, proclaim this in a broad, 1 size fits all answer.
A few things matter when it comes to girls putting on muscle...
3. Volume & intensity of lifting
If you look at the physiological effects of strength training, they're phenomenal!
-Better insulin sensitivity
-Improved oestrogen metabolism
-Boosted metabolic rate
-Joint/connective tissue improvement
-Enhancements in strength, coordination, confidence and much more.
But the question we are trying to answer, will you put on muscle?
A: Yes, that's the purpose of lifting weights!
Next it comes down to knowing what you want
1. Lean, muscular and athletic physique
2. Toned and slim physique
If you chose 2, keep reading!
I created a Toned series of exercises based on a fashion model I was training, the need for tight stomach, lifted butt and slim arms! Gone are the days on starving yourself, models these days take a healthy approach to training and eating.
I knew they weren't eating a performance based diet like ones designed for strength and conditioning so I needed exercises to match what they ate and how they wanted to look!
Now that you get the idea behind my Toned series lets look at a few exercises to further your understanding!
-Shoulder pulled back
-Use your wrists/hands to turn the rope rather than the entire arms
-Light on your feet
-Breathe in through your nose and out through the mouth
-Use your butt to move your leg
-Slow it down, control through entire range
-Consciously try to engage your butt muscles the entire time
-Keep the leg straight
Butt on fire sequence
-Use the butt to move the leg
-Follow along and enjoy the burn!!!
These are just a few exercises that scratch the surface that is Toned, In the future I will share with you about how you can build your own toned workouts in the comfort of your home!
Also I'm not discouraging any girls from lifting weights, this remains a staple in my COMPLETE program but just deciding what your goal is and working from there!
