THE 2 MINUTE MEDITATION WORTH TRYING
I know what you’re thinking… Meditation?
“Ian I don’t have time to go chant in the woods, hug tree’s and Hum in a circle”
Look, I used to think meditation was some hippie shit as well, BUT over time I have found it very useful for productivity, mental clarity and reducing stress!
“Okay go on”
Imagine a soldier at war, in the middle of the trenches with a million things happening at once. He’s reacting to thing's moving at a fast pace on a moment to moment basis.
Sometimes in life it feels like so much is going on at once and we don’t take the time to slow down.
Which leaves us in this reactive and sometimes stressed state.
Next, imagine a general overseeing the entire battle, strategically mapping out and calculating each move.
I've taken all the things I have learned about meditation and simplified them into a 2 minute feel good reset.
Find somewhere comfortable, lay down or sit cross legged with your back against the wall.
Play some peaceful music, I prefer delta waves which is a commonly used binural beat for relaxation. You can find these frequencies on youtube, noise cancelling headphones are a must for binaural beats!
Take a long, slow inhalation through your nose then hold your breath as long as possible, finally let the breath out as slowly as you can.
While you’re breathing focus on one thing you’re feeling grateful for, it could be your family, friends, health or well being. Whatever it is, concentrate on that one thing while you exhale into the deepest relaxation possible.
Repeat 2-3 deep breathes
What science tells us!
"Gratitude is proven to reduce stress and boost neurochemistry"
"Breathing directly affects your nervous system, which means meditation can be useful for workout recovery!"
Now, take a deep breath and relax ;)
